Truly an original guitarist with his own distinct voice, New York City based musician, Billy Rogan has begun to make a growing name for himself amongst the underground music scene working with other artists and musicians throughout the many different genres New York City has to offer. |

Rogan is a well-versed guitarist, although known mostly for his instrumental acoustic work, whose influences include the styles and techniques of artists such as Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Keller Williams and Kaki King. His original compositions reflect a unique combination of classical and modern fingerstlye with hints of new age sounds that blend forms with these intricate details of inspiration. Rogan’s skilled touch brings stories to the strings in tales of heartfelt bits and pieces, shifting rhythms and tempos – all with a soulful, fiery feel. Rogan continues to pursue all avenues of guitar having attended recent workshops and clinics with Tim Reynolds of The Dave Matthews Band, blues great Toby Walker, Patrick Sweany, Gospel Blues legend Spencer Bohren and popular ragtime/blues guitarist Roy Book Binder.Rogan has had the opportunity to sit in and mix notes with some of his favorite musicians including: Mike Gordon of Phish, Joe Russo of The Dead, Ween, Benvenento Russo Duo and Scott Murawski as part of Mike Gordon’s Mossery Jam, friend Carl Brunsdon of The British Pink Floyd Show and Richie Cannata of Billy Joel.Most recently he has opened up for renowned jazz pianist Brad Mehldau and guitarist Peter Bernstein. In addition, Rogan has recently been awarded the honor of being featured on the American Society of Composers and Publishing’s (ASCAP) website for their highly-acclaimed Audio Portraits series. |
